The Perfect Rajma Masala recipe

Ingredients - Here are the key ingredients that you will need to make rajma masala recipe:

  • One cup Rajma
  • One inch long Cinnamon Stick
  • A piece of Green Cardamom
  • Half a teaspoon of cumin seeds 
  • One finely chopped onion
  • One teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste 
  • One slit Green Chilli
  • Two medium sized Tomatoes
  • One teaspoon of red chilli powder 
  • One teaspoon of cumin-coriander powder 
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • Two tablespoons of Oil
  • Salt as per your preferences

Preparation

Step 1 - Make sure that you rinse and soak all the rajma beans in water for at least 8-9 hours. So the best time to do so is overnight. Now, in a pressure cooker put at least 4 cups of water and all the rajma beans inside. Let the rajma cook for at least 10-15 minutes on medium flame, this will soften the beans. 

Step 2 - Once the cooker whistle settles down, take out the rajma beans and check whether the rajma beans have become soft or not. Now, heat some oil and butter in another pan. Add the cumin into it and stir for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3 - Add the onions now and once they are golden brown, add the ginger garlic paste. Stir well for 5 minutes. Then add the tomatoes and all the Indian spices that we mentioned. Stir and saute the whole thing very well.

Step 4 - Now add the rajma beans into the mixture and continuously keep stirring it. Add 2-3 cups of water and turn on the lid for 10 minutes. This will bring a thickness to the curry. Now your rajma masala is ready to be served hot.
